Bengali Fish Fry

Bengalis are known for their love for fish. This fry is not the everyday fish fry, that’s known as maach bhaja. This fry is served as a starter with mustard sauce and onion ring.

Enjoy this simple yet delicious fish fry

 

Ingredients:

  • Fish Fillet (cut in pieces)- 10-12
  • Lemon Juice-2tbsp
  • Green Chilly paste-1tbsp
  • Dry Mint leaves-1tsp
  • Black Pepper-1tsp
  • Ginger- Garlic paste-1tbsp
  • Coriander(optional)-1tsp
  • Salt-to taste
  • Cornflour-2tbsp
  • Egg-2pcs
  • Black Pepper-1tsp
  • Salt- to taste
  • Bread Crumbs-1plate full (for coating)
  • Oil (for deep frying)-5-6tbsp

Method:

  • Marinade the fish fillet with lemon juice, green chilly paste, dry mint leaves, black pepper powder, ginger-garlic paste and coriander for 1hour
  • After 1 hour, prepare batter with cornflour, salt, black pepper and eggs.
  • In another plate, keep some bread crumbs
  • Take one piece of marinated fish fillet, dip in batter, coat in bread crumbs.
  • Repeat the process (Again dip in batter and coat in bread crumbs), keep aside.
  • Warm oil in round bottomed vessel and deep fry it, making sure it turns darn brown on both sides.
  • Enjoy with kasundi (mustard sauce) and onion.
