Bengali Crab Kalia

Kalia is a bengali term which means a spicy tomato based gravy. It can be used for veg as well as non veg curries.

Enjoy this simple yet delicious crab curry.

Ingredients:

Crab-4-5pcs
Cumin seed-1/4tsp
Onion-1cup
Tomato-1pc,cut in cubes
Yogurt-1tbsp
Ginger-garlic paste-1tbsp
Turmeric powder-1tsp
Red chilly powder-11/2tsp
Kashmiri red chilly powder-11/2tsp
Potato-1pc cut in cubes
Green chilly-3-4pcs
Garam masala-1tsp
Clove-2pcs
Green cardamom-2pcs
Bay Leaf-1pc
Salt-to taste
Oil-3-4tbsp

Method:

Boil crab and throw the water.
In the mean time make a blend tomatoes, green chilies and yogurt.
Take oil in pan,add jeera, crushed clove, crushed green cardamom,bay leaf.
Add onion,fry till pink in colour.
Add tomato-green chilly-yogurt purée and fry,add ginger garlic paste. Add 1tsp water and stir.
To this add potatoes,stir.
Add turmeric,red chilly and kashmiri red chilly powder,stir.
Add 1tsp water and stir.
Once the masala starts releasing oil,add boiled crabs.
Stir.
Add 1/2cup water, add salt.
Cover and cook till potatoes are tender.
Once done,add Garam masala. Switch off the flame and keep it in standing time.
Enjoy with rice.
